ARCHITECTURE & LIGHT

The home's original strong, simple design has been carefully preserved and enhanced.

A striking geometric central spine of concrete blocks, featuring a unique design, creates a distinctive architectural identity, while floor-to-ceiling windows upstairs and downstairs bring the surrounding bushland into the home.

With a west-facing orientation, glorious afternoon sunlight fills both levels and creates beautiful sunset views. Morning light warms the entrance courtyard, kitchen and deck.

A HOME WITH AN ARTISTIC HISTORY

The property has been lovingly and painstakingly restored by Deborah Halpern, one of Australia's most recognisable contemporary sculptors.

Halpern is renowned for works including Angel at the National Gallery of Victoria, Ophelia at Southbank, The Face of Melbourne, Queen of the Shire at North Warrandyte and Portal to Another Time and Place at Point Leo Sculpture Park.

Her creativity and appreciation of form, colour, texture and place are reflected in the restoration of this unique home.

ELTHAM LIFESTYLE

Nature is quite literally on the doorstep.

The Diamond Creek runs along Antoinette Boulevard, while Quarry Reserve, with its outlook towards the Yarra, is an easy walk away. Eltham Lower Park and the Yarra are also within walking distance.

On weekends, the distant whistle of the steam train from the Diamond Valley Miniature Railway drifts through the surrounding trees.

Native wildlife is abundant, with parrots, cockatoos, kookaburras and currawongs regularly seen, while wallabies, wombats and echidnas inhabit the surrounding bushland.

Montsalvat is an easy walk along the ridge, offering its unique artistic atmosphere, café, coffee and meals.

Eltham High School and Eltham South Pre-school are within walking and cycling distance, while buses along Mt Pleasant Road connect with Eltham Village and Eltham railway station.
