A Private Estate of Extraordinary Views and Distinctive Architecture

A rare offering in one of the Macedon Ranges’ most tightly held pockets, Terra Rossa is an extraordinary 4.44-hectare (approximately 11-acre) country estate where distinctive architecture, established gardens and breathtaking long-range views come together in remarkable harmony.

From the winding driveway, the property unfolds through established olive groves before revealing a beautifully private residence positioned to embrace its spectacular setting. Here, the landscape takes centre stage sweeping across the prestigious Kerrie Valley thoroughbred country and extending an extraordinary 100 kilometres towards the Kinglake Range and beyond to the Cathedral Range near Lake Eildon.

Held by the same Kerrie farming family for five generations since 1872, the land possesses a rare sense of history, continuity and permanence.

Designed by the current owners and crafted by Ken Warburton Homes, the four-bedroom, two-bathroom residence is unlike anything else in the region. Its distinctive pavilion-style architecture is arranged around a magnificent 100sqm internal courtyard, creating a private garden sanctuary at the heart of the home.
Flooded with natural light, generous proportions, high ceilings and 2.4-metre doors enhance the sense of space, while intelligent passive-solar design and cross-flow ventilation provide exceptional comfort throughout the seasons.

The courtyard is a destination in its own right. A Japanese meditation garden, cascading stream and mature bonsaied Crimson King maples create an extraordinary sense of tranquillity a beautiful counterpoint to the expansive landscape beyond and a recurring connection to nature throughout the home.
At the centre of the residence, the generously proportioned entertainer’s kitchen features extensive preparation and storage, together with a genuine butler’s pantry. Formal living and dining spaces are carefully positioned to capture the surrounding landscape, while the north-easterly master suite enjoys its own beautiful outlook and a deep double spa ensuite.

Beyond the residence, Terra Rossa unfolds through a series of beautifully considered spaces for living, entertaining and retreat. Wide Castlemaine slate verandahs, secluded patios, established gardens and park-like lawns offer a choice of settings throughout the day and across every season.

Within the fully enclosed garden courtyard, a Red Gum pavilion with genuine Sicilian pizza oven and outdoor bar creates an unforgettable setting for long lunches and summer evenings. Beyond the lawns, a 10-metre solar-heated saltwater pool takes centre stage, framed by mature Chinese elms and an impressive wisteria arbour, with the valley extending endlessly beyond.
The established olive grove of more than 300 trees adds an unmistakable Mediterranean character to the estate, while also presenting an opportunity for those drawn to the productive possibilities of country living.

Equestrian facilities include two stables, tack and feed room, round yard and dedicated paddock, with access to riding trails within Mount Charlie Flora Reserve just 500 metres from the front gate.

For the productive gardener, established vegetable and strawberry beds sit alongside an impressive collection of fruit and nut trees, including feijoa, fig, citrus, almond, walnut and hazelnut. Heirloom apple and pear trees, understood to be more than 150 years old, add another layer of history to this remarkable landscape.
Two spring-fed dams and substantial water storage further enhance the property’s excellent water security.

A separate double garage incorporates a gymnasium and sauna, with potential to create a private office with its own entrance. A substantial steel shed, incorporating two 40-foot containers and accessed through oversized railway carriage doors, provides exceptional capacity for workshop, vehicle and boat storage.

Just 40 minutes from Melbourne Airport and immersed in the enduring beauty of the Macedon Ranges, Terra Rossa is a property of genuine individuality a place where architecture, landscape, history and an extraordinary sense of place have been brought together with uncommon care.

A private country sanctuary. An extraordinary architectural home. And a view that simply has to be experienced.
