Uninterrupted Wombat Forest and mountain views are a breathtaking backdrop to exclusive living on Shepherds Flat, with three residences offering impressive accommodation options. Lots of love and care has gone into creating this first-class retreat on 5.15 hectares (12.73 acres approx.) of land. It’s where you’re surrounded by beautiful landscaping, and decks are tailormade for sitting and looking out across rolling hills and your own fenced paddocks.

The three-bedroom two-bathroom Homestead features contemporary quality in every room, including the open-plan living and dining zone, gourmet kitchen, and bedrooms with outdoor access and gorgeous views. Spend winters inside around the fireplace as you look out to panoramic vistas, enjoy warmer days cooking on the outdoor smoker and brazier, and lose yourself in the landscaped garden as it reveals its beauty with each season.

The Marnie’s Loft retreat is brilliant for when friends come to stay, or you want an income stream from holiday bookings. It’s set away from the main house and offers two bedrooms, a high-ceilinged living and dining space with its own cocktail bar, beautiful timberwork, a subway-tiled kitchen, and private outdoor space.

Everything you want in a rural base is here, including a one-bedroom studio ready for a myriad of uses. Rent it out as a couple’s weekend retreat, make it your home office, or use it as a creative space. There’s also a gym surrounded by decking, wonderful for outdoor yoga sessions.

Inspection is essential to appreciate all the finishes, features and infrastructure that enhance this premium property. The Colorbond exterior is functional and easy-care, and timber is used to great effect inside. Practical elements include split-system heating and cooling, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, well-appointed bathrooms, a laundry/drying room and double-glazed windows. The French-made oven is a culinary treat, perfect for cooking the fruit, vegetables and herbs you’ll find growing onsite. There’s also a four-car barn-style garage, a conservatorium, computerized sprinkler system, a bore, plenty of tank water storage, dams, and an animal enclosure.

Shepherds Flat offers rural seclusion yet it’s only 15 minutes from Daylesford, Hepburn Springs and Castlemaine. It’s a dream destination for tree-changers, outstanding for escaping the city grind, and popular with holidaymakers looking for country serenity.
