Sunny afternoons might find friends gathered around a long table, kids claiming the fully fenced lawn or multipurpose room as their own, the caravan packed and ready in its secure bay, and someone disappearing to the workshop to finish a project. Inside, timber floors, generous living zones and stacker doors opened wide to the fresh air keep everyone connected without crowding each other. Comprehensively renovated, this Montrose home pairs the strong bones and architectural confidence of its era with a crisp contemporary finish and the flexibility to adapt beautifully to real family life.

Creating a social hub, the generous kitchen and meals zone is designed for gathering. A 900mm Smeg freestanding cooker with gas cooktop and electric oven, dishwasher, plentiful storage and bench space make everyday cooking and entertaining easy, while there is ample room for a substantial communal dining table where breakfasts, homework, shared platters and long family dinners can all comfortably unfold. The nearby laundry is cleverly positioned to double as a butler’s pantry or appliance zone, keeping the main kitchen streamlined while adding valuable storage.

On the other side of the semi-open wall, the living room takes on a moodier mid-century edge, with charcoal-toned brick wall creating a striking feature backdrop. Timber stacker doors peel back to connect the interior with the expansive alfresco deck, making indoor-outdoor entertaining feel effortless.

The main bedroom enjoys its own sense of retreat, with built-in robes, ensuite and direct access to a private paved alfresco, ready for a quiet morning coffee, serene sitting area or perhaps a future spa. There is also a hidden wine cellar tucked under the room, a brilliant little surprise for storing favourite drops and keeping a special bottle close at hand. Three additional bedrooms share the generous family bathroom, creating ample space for toddlers, teenagers or guests.

Outside, the block works hard. Two tiers of lush, level lawn provide safe spaces for play, while a fully covered side zone gives children and pets somewhere to stay outdoors even when the weather turns.

Secure gates open to a long brick driveway with room for caravans, boats, trailers, trade vehicles and extra cars or perhaps a game of backyard cricket. At the rear, a powered workshop with built-in bench is joined by a separate powered multipurpose room clad in Colorbond, ideal as a home office, studio, teen retreat, games room or business base.

Refrigerated heating and cooling, high privacy fencing and ample front parking complete a home designed to grow with family life, while Montrose Village, schools, transport and the Dandenong Ranges remain close at hand.
