Long before you reach the front door, 24 O'Driscoll Street has already won you over. The first glimpse is the best one: a cottage peeking through the gum trees, a limestone wall lining the white gates and the feeling that you're about to discover something special at 24 O'Driscoll Street.

Some homes are just built while others are kept and this one has been loved for decades by the same family.

Wander up the brick paved path and across the lawn so green it looks painted and you'll arrive at a creamy brick and tile cottage from 1956, the verandah draped in climbing vines as if the garden is giving the house a hug.

Step inside and the years add charm rather than weight. Polished floorboards glow underfoot, decorative cornices frame the ceilings and the lounge is anchored by a wood fire made for those crisp Bakers Hill evenings. Just beyond sits the kitchen and dining area beautifully bright and practical where the vines peek through the windows.

Off the kitchen, the mud room, complete with a second shower and toilet, leads through to the long living area. Bright with beautiful French doors opening towards the front of the property, it's the room for the big family Christmas, the crowded birthday and the lazy Sunday movie - the configuration endless.

Back through the kitchen and down the hallway, three comfortable bedrooms are wrapped in soft carpet and share the family bathroom, while a fourth, the sleep out makes a handy retreat for guests, teenagers or a quiet study.

The sleep out opens onto the back porch, as do the glass sliding doors from the kitchen, so Sunday brunch sorts itself out, overlooking the most beautiful scenery.

Outside is where this property truly sings. The immediate backyard is fully grassed equal to the front and ready for family cricket matches, with a vine covered archway that is just as perfect for a celebration of nuptials.

Beyond it, its 2.71 hectares stretch out as a blank canvas for the dreamers, with plenty of room to add to the existing orchard or make some pretty impressive future plans to your new property.

This is lifestyle meets comfortable living, in a cottage oozing with love, character and decades of family history.
