Defying convention with a confident blend of mid-century character, contemporary creativity and a genuinely family-focussed design, this bespoke, five bedroom, three bathroom residence represents a remarkable collaboration between its builder and designer. Thoughtfully renovated and extended without surrendering its original spirit, this is a home that wears its individuality proudly – sunlit, welcoming and conceived above all for living, entertaining and enjoying. At its heart, an impressively scaled north-facing open-plan creates the ultimate setting for connection. A subway-tiled and stone-topped kitchen with European appliances is centred around a vast island that invites guests to pull up a seat, share a drink from the wet bar and stay engaged while dinner takes shape. From here, dining and living flow effortlessly outdoors to an undercover deck where the northern sun is a delight, or, alternately to a separate lounge room for greater ambiance.

The primary bedroom becomes a vast and private parental sanctuary with a lounge or study alcove, walk-in robes and an exquisitely wallpapered ensuite that transforms everyday rituals into something more indulgent. Indeed, the use of wallpaper is an inspired theme also utilised downstairs to great effect, whilst added highlights include a ground floor bedroom with another ensuite and built-in robes in all bedrooms, an oversized double garage with workshop and storage space, as well as ducted heating, reverse cycle air conditioning and split systems. Brilliantly situated within easy reach of both Westfield Doncaster and Box Hill Central, this is a terrific family pocket near Koonung Creek parkland, plenty of city-bound buses, the Eastern Freeway and its Park & Ride service
