Long admired behind flourishing established gardens, ‘Oxonia’ c1892 is a grand Victorian residence of exquisite beauty, history and future potential. Occupying 1,412sqm* and held by only four families since it was built, the home retains its tuck-pointed Hawthorn brick exterior, bluestone foundations and slate roof, enriched by Arts and Crafts flourishes that reflect the movement’s influence across Oxfordshire and Victorian England in the late nineteenth century. Its substantial grounds extend to a second frontage with vehicle access from Olive Street, further broadening the possibilities for a sensitive restoration or far-reaching transformation for contemporary family living (STCA).

Beyond its breathtaking exterior, ‘Oxonia’ reveals the grand proportions and decorative richness of its 1892 origins. Intricate Art Nouveau-stained glass surrounds the entrance hall, depicting the marshes and orchards of Oxfordshire from which the original family came, while ceilings rise to 15ft and a magnificent mahogany staircase commands the interior. The formal sitting and dining rooms carry that same grandeur, each retaining ornate marble fireplaces, with five fireplaces across ten principal rooms.

A north-facing kitchen/meals area opens directly to the rear garden, while accommodation extends over both levels, comprising four substantial bedrooms, a study with an eastern balcony, multiple bathrooms, and a studio/home office. Sweeping easterly views extend toward the city skyline from the upper level, complemented by a cellar, laundry, downstairs ducted heating and abundant off-street parking from both Olive Street and Forster Avenue.

Enviably positioned close to Darling Station, Central Park, Koornang Road’s shopping and cafés, leading schools, Monash University, Ardrie Park and Gardiners Creek Trail, ‘Oxonia’ comes to market for the first time in approximately 60 years, offering a remarkable opportunity to shape a landmark for a new generation, underpinned by more than 130 years of history.
