Built in 1923 as a Methodist church, this remarkable Tyabb landmark has enjoyed a fascinating life. Later expanded with a Sunday school wing and used for purposes including a dance school, it has now been thoughtfully transformed into a distinctive three-bedroom home that preserves its history while delivering exceptional contemporary comfort.

The breathtaking former church hall remains the heart of the residence. Soaring cathedral ceilings, exposed structural timbers, original windows, coloured glass and polished floorboards create a sense of volume and atmosphere rarely found in a private home. Expansive living and dining areas unfold beneath the dramatic roofline, offering an unforgettable setting for relaxed everyday living and impressive large-scale entertaining.

Positioned at one end of this spectacular room, the contemporary kitchen features generous preparation space, extensive cabinetry, a substantial island bench, dishwasher and freestanding cooker. Modern finishes provide an elegant contrast to the warmth and character of the original building.

The private bedroom wing was comprehensively rebuilt to create a practical modern layout while retaining a visual connection to the church through carefully selected doors, skirtings and architectural detailing. The oversized main bedroom includes a walk-in robe, private ensuite and access to a secluded patio. Two further bedrooms, both with walk-in robes, are accompanied by a stylish family bathroom and separate powder room.

The well-equipped laundry occupies a smaller original room once used as the priest's office, where marriage documents were signed-a charming reminder of the building's past now thoughtfully incorporated into everyday life. Separate heating and cooling systems provide comfort throughout the home's substantial interior.

French doors connect the living spaces with a broad entertaining deck, secure lawn and established garden. Views of surrounding trees and greenery create a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere, while the generous driveway, double carport and additional hardstand provide excellent off-street parking and easy access for larger vehicles.

Extensive storage is another valuable feature, with former ancillary spaces and a separate outbuilding offering room for bicycles, garden equipment and everyday essentials. The flexible internal design also provides scope for future owners to adapt selected spaces to suit their needs, subject to any required approvals.

Rich in history, generous in scale and finished with genuine care, 72 The Crescent is far more than a home. It is a rare opportunity to become the next custodian of an extraordinary local landmark.
