Access off Grey Street and discover this beautiful fully renovated piece of East Melbourne history.

Built in 1871 for master cabinetmaker August Wernicke, this character-rich, fully renovated two-bedroom Victorian, forms part of the original Lemon Tree Cottage row, complete with its own fascinating story, including ties to the infamous bushranger linked to Captain Moonlite’s gang.

The charming dual-toned brick façade, slate roof and flourishing kumquat tree, set a warm and inviting tone, while a high brick fence and wrought iron gate ensure privacy and security.

Inside, a grand arched hallway introduces a double glazed home of modern elegance. The living area showcases polished timber floors and steel-framed concertina glass doors that open seamlessly to a private courtyard. Bathed in sunlight, this exposed aggregate terrace is perfect for entertaining, complete with rear access from St Helens Lane and secure off-street parking.

The thoughtfully designed kitchen combines functionality with style, featuring bespoke cabinetry, pull-out pantry, wraparound timber table and breakfast bar, stone surfaces, integrated fridge/freezer, premium Miele appliances, gas cooking, and four skylights that flood the space with natural light.

Both bedrooms are beautifully appointed with soaring ceilings, intricate period details and custom built-in robes. The front bedroom is a standout, centred around a gas log fireplace set within the original chimney, flanked by tailored joinery, which includes a bed/sofa as well as a desk and ceiling fan. The second bedroom offers clerestory windows and a ceiling fan, while both are serviced by individual reverse-cycle systems.

The striking bathroom delivers a luxurious experience, complete with full-height tiling, frameless double shower with dual rainfall heads and optional hand helds, herringbone feature wall, skylight, and a wide vanity with twin basins and mirrored cabinetry.

Additional features include ducted reverse-cycle heating and cooling, European laundry, extensive loft storage or study, including its own reverse cycling heating and cooling as well as a window, secure keyless entry, two additional parking permits, automated blinds, integrated speakers throughout the home, and beautifully preserved period finish throughout.
