Standing as a grand reminder of Carlton’s rich architectural pedigree within the historically significant, circa-1890s ‘Drummond Terrace’ building, this regal, tri-level residence is not only a stellar example of what made Melbourne Marvellous in the late 19th Century, it also stands as a unique opportunity to create some 21st Century architectural legacy. Crafted by the renowned Walter Scott Law and steeped in the traditions of Italianate Victorian excellence, the home comprises 13 principal rooms with scope and flexibility for reinvention as a landmark city-fringe masterpiece.

Soaring ceilings, exquisite period detailing and a sense of scale rarely found today create a compelling foundation for transformation, the basis of which can be set upon a ground-floor where the kitchen/meals is generously scaled and semi-attached to a grand dining room and a semi-attached lounge, each of which are warmed by marble fireplaces that honour the home’s rich and important heritage. Upstairs, the precise configuration of the accommodation, bathrooms and living is entirely flexible and can be left to creative architectural minds capable of taking full advantage of the home’s legacy and extraordinary proportions to create a genuine landmark residence.

Further highlights currently include two upstairs bathrooms, a kitchenette, oversized downstairs powder room and potential for a Butler’s kitchen and/or wine cellar as well as a sundrenched backyard with secure parking for multiple vehicles. Framing panoramic urban rooftop views that include the Royal Exhibition Buildings and the towers of the CBD, the only boundaries here are those of the imagination.

City-fringe living at its finest in the zone for University High School, with the city’s theatre district, Carlton and Fitzroy Gardens as well as Museum Railway Station, the University Of Melbourne and RMIT as well as Lygon Street’s renowned café scene and fine dining all comfortably walkable. An iconic location to reward some genuine architectural inspiration.
